Toolbar
A toolbar is a user interface element that contains a set of buttons or icons, typically located at the top or side of a window. Each button represents a specific function or shortcut, such as saving a file, printing a document, or undoing an action.
Toolbars provide quick access to commonly used commands, eliminating the need to navigate through menus. For example, a word processor might include a toolbar with formatting options like bold, italic, and font size. A web browser toolbar may have buttons for back, forward, and refresh.
Modern software applications often have customizable toolbars, allowing you to add, remove, or rearrange tools based on your preferences. Some applications — like Microsoft Office programs (see above) — use a ribbon toolbar. Ribbons organize tools into tabs and groups for better organization and ease of use.
Toolbars in Mobile Apps
Due to space constraints, mobile apps often lack full-blown toolbars. Instead, they usually include simplified bottom navigation bars that provide quick access to key functions. Some apps offer pop-up toolbars, which can be shown and hidden with a single tap.
